Lord Bowen of Messalina is, with his friend Roger Gardner, delivering the beautiful yacht "Ocean Flight" to Newport from Antigua and expect to arrive by June 10th.
Lord Geoffrey of Pidduck (formerly Dame Geoffrey) came fourteenth out of twenty-nine entrants in the laser racing held in June in St. Martin, so congratulations are in order.
H.M. Robert the Bald and Queen Elizabeth will be in Toronto until July 15th. The Royal Yacht "St.Peter" will be looked after by a new enterprise in English Harbour Rowley the Minder, run by a former Sun Yacht's manager Rowland Bennett. If the boat doesn't get washed out to sea or onto Galleon Beach Rowley might well find himself on the Mid-Summer Honours list.
Plans for the Royal Redondan Yacht Club's premises at Playbach are well along the way to becoming South Antigua's favourite playground. The exisiting office will be moved to the opposite corner of the billiards room and the space, along with part of the balcony terrace, will become the first air-conditioned bar and common room in the area - a boon specially during the summer for lunch-time members and their guests (one guest each).
The schooner "Tree of Life" was honoured on the last day of Classic Week, during which H.M. and Queen Elizabeth helped as crew, and she (the boat, that is) is now known far and wide as "Sir Tree".
Sir Jiri Mikes has been honoured with the title Ambassador to the Czech Republic. Sir Jiri sent the following eloquent response a few days ago from Prague, which we thought every yachtie would appreciate reading:
"Vazen pane krali Bobe,
dékuji Vĺm za jmeenovĺnî mimoradnym a zplnomocnénym vyslancem Krĺlovstvi Redonda v Ceské republice. Potvruji Vĺm,Vase Krĺlovska, ze budu v této zemi hĺjit zajmy Vaseho kralovstvi do roztrhĺni téla a propîtî duse. At' zije Kral Robert the Bald
